DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University softball junior catcher Emerie Germ has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for May 2014 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
A native of Canton Ga., Germ topped NCCU and ranked 15th in the MEAC with a .348 batting average during the 2014 season, while also recording a team-best 47 hits and 19 runs.
During her junior campaign she also recorded 14 runs scored, six doubles, a triple and two home runs, while starting 43 of the team's 44 games.
A theatre major at NCCU, Germ boasts an overall grade point average of 3.687. She is a member of the Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society and the NCCU German Club. As part of an Alpha Psi Omega community outreach initiative, Germ volunteered with a canned food drive and worked in a soup kitchen.
After graduating from NCCU, Germ plans on moving to Atlanta to start auditioning for television, film and theater productions, utilizing the connections she has made through an internship at The Village Theatre in Atlanta.
