NCCU SOFTBALL DROPS TWO DURING MEAC OPENER

Lady Eagles Fall to Bethune-Cookman in Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – The North Carolina Central University softball team dropped a pair of match-ups as the Lady Eagles fell to the Bethue-Cookman Wildcats 1-0 and 1-0 in doubleheader action during the Lady Eagles Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opening weekend March 30 in Daytona Beach.

Being held scoreless during game one action, NCCU's two hits were earned after redshirt freshman Jenny Tracy (LaGrange, Ore.) singled to center field during the top of the second and sophomore Markell Wylie (Fayetteville, N.C.) also collected a single connecting in the top of the fifth inning.

Sophomore London Booker (Richmond, Va.) collected the Lady Eagle loss during the first match-up. Booker allowed seven Wildcat hits, one run, gave up two walks while striking out eight.

Although NCCU was unable to string together a series of hits, the Lady Eagles out hit B-CU during game two as NCCU collected six compared to the Wildcats one.

Rookie Dominque Wilson (Mooresville, N.C.) and junior Emerie Germ (Caton, Ga.) led the Lady Eagles as the twosome finished 2-for-3 at the plate each.

Wilson gave up one B-CU hit on the mound and one unearned run while walking four and striking out four.

NCCU wraps up the series with the Wildcats on Monday, March 31 with first pitch set at 12 p.m. at Sunnyland Park in Daytona.
