Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. – During the series finale in Daytona Beach, Fla., the North Carolina Central University softball team continued to struggle finding offensive momentum as the Lady Eagles dropped game three to the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 2-0 during their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opening series on Monday, March 31 at Sunnyland Park.
After the Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, innings two through five remained scoreless between both teams.
In the top of the fourth senior
London Germ (Canton, Ga.) started the inning reaching first after she was hit by a pitch. Sophomore
Angelique Perricelli (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) followed Germ, bunting for a single, placing her teammate in scoring position on second. After Germ was thrown out at third, caught stealing, junior
Emerie Germ (Canton, Ga.) flew out to right field, followed by
Dominque Wilson's (Mooresville, N.C.) pop up to third leaving NCCU's lone runner of the contest stranded at second.
B-CU struck again in the bottom of the sixth after a leadoff solo homer to center field pushed the Wildcat advantage to two.
Perricelli earned the Lady Eagles only hit of the contest while NCCU finished 1-for-21 at the plate as a team.
Sophomore
London Booker (Richmond, Va.) collected the loss for the Lady Eagles as she pitched the complete six innings, facing 26 batters, giving up two runs, no walks and striking out two B-CU batters.
NCCU returns to action on Wednesday, April 2 when the Lady Eagles travel to Boone, N.C., to rematch the Appalachian State Mountaineers in doubleheader action beginning at 5 p.m.
