NCCU SOFTBALL DROPS TWO ON THE ROAD

Tracy Scores Lady Eagles Lone Run

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BUIES CREEK,  N.C. – The North Carolina Central University softball team dropped a pair of road match-ups as the Lady Eagles (0-6) fell to the Campbell Camels (9-7) 10-0 during game one and 9-1 during game two on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.

During game one, sophomore Emerie Germ (Canton, Ga.) finished 2-for-2 at the plate although her efforts were not enough to put NCCU on the scoreboard during the CU shutout.

The heavy hitting Camels opened up the first contest with back-to-back homers giving Campbell the early 4-0 lead. The Lady Eagles were never able to gain momentum as they fell 10-0 in the fifth inning.

Sophomore London Booker (Richmond, Va.) (0-5) pitched a complete five innings for NCCU giving up 10 runs, eight hits, seven earned runs, walking seven batters and striking out two.

After a scoreless first inning during game two, Campbell struck first during the bottom of the second scoring off of sacrifice fly to center field and a RBI single to right field.

The Lady Eagles answered during the top of the third as NCCU earned its first run on the Camels during the series.

Redshirt freshmen Jenny Tracy (LaGrange, Ore.) singled to left field followed by a sacrifice bunt by Emerie Germ that advanced Tracy to third.

Senior Camille Hampton (Lakewood, Calif.) singled to center field, scoring Tracy from third and closing the CU advantage to 2-1.

The Camels added to their lead in the bottom of the inning pushing two more runs in the third.

Up 8-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, CU scored an unearned run putting them on top by eight, ending the contest in five innings.

Tracy led NCCU during the second battle as the finished 2-for-3 at the plate with one run.

Rookie pitched Dominique Wilson (Mooresville, N.C.) (0-1) made her first appearance on the mound for the Lady Eagles as the freshmen gave up nine runs off of eight hits, eight earned runs, walked six batters and put five strike outs in the book for NCCU.

The Lady Eagles return to action Friday Feb. 28-March 1 as NCCU travels to Macon, Ga., where they will participate in the Mercer Bears Classic.
