CONWAY, S.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team dropped its six-straight contest of the season, falling by fifteen to Coastal Carolina, 67-52, Wednesday, Dec. 17 in Conway, South Carolina at The HTC Center.
Ending the Lady Eagles (2-9, 0-2 MEAC) six-game road swing,
Racquel Davis collected her fourth double-double of the season finishing with a team-best 15 points and leading the game on the glass with 13 boards. The senior Brooklyn, New York, native also led NCCU with three steals and one block.
The Lady Eagles lone lead of the contest came early in the first half after a made free throw from sophomore
Tisha Dixon (Kinston, North Carolina) put NCCU on top of the Chanticleers 5-2 at the 17:14 mark.
Coastal held the Lady Eagles to 23.3% shooting in the first half (7-for-30), while the Chanticleers shot 51.9% (14-for-27), taking a 34-24 lead into the break.
During second half action CCU outscored NCCU 33-28, collecting the 67-52 victory.
Four of the Chanticleers starting five finished the contest in double-figures as Anna Vogt led the game with 19 points and 11 boards, trailed by Ced Gibson's 15 points and AJ Jordan and Stephane Isaacs' 10 apiece.
NCCU returns home on Saturday, Dec. 20 taking on Presbyterian at 2 p.m., during the Lady Eagles final game of 2014.
