GAME NOTES: NCCU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AT FAMU (JAN. 11, 2014)

TALLAHASSEE Fla. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team will play in its fourth game in nine days as the Lady Eagles open up Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action traveling to the Sunshine State where NCCU will take on the Florida A&M Lady Rattlers on Jan. 11 at 4 p.m.

Davis on the Double
  • Junior Racquel Davis has collected four double-doubles this season (at Presbyterian, at South Florida, vs. Gardner-Webb and vs. Western Carolina), averaging 12.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest.
  • Davis earned a season-best 15 rebounds at Presbyterian (Nov. 14) and 21 points versus Western Carolina (12/2).

The Freeman File
  • Leading NCCU, redshirt senior Jessica Freeman averages 13.8 points per game, shooting 63-for-192 from the field (.328), 24-for-81 from behind the arc (.296) and 29-for-36 from the free throw line (.806).
  • The shooting guard has now collected 1,004 points in her collegiate career (UNCW 2009-13, NCCU 2013-14)
  • Freeman earned a season-high 26 on Dec. 19 during a 73-69 victory over Western Carolina.

Last Time Out
  • ROCK HILL, S.C. – After leading by as many as nine points during first half action, the North Carolina Central University women's basketball team was outscored 40-20 during the second 20 minutes leading to the Lady Eagles (5-8) 68-46 loss to the Winthrop Eagles (10-4) during NCCU's final non-conference contest on Tuesday, Jan. 7 in Rock Hill, S.C.
  • Red shirt senior transfer Jessica Freeman (Charlotte, N.C.) earned her 1,000th collegiate career point (UNCW 2009-13, NCCU 2013-14) after a made free throw at the 9:36 mark. Freeman finished the contest with 10 points, shooting 3-for-14 from the field, 2-for-7 from behind the arc and 2-for-2 from the free throw line, pushing the 5-5 shooting guard to 1,004 career points.
  • Junior Racquel Davis (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Lady Eagles with 12 points and eight boards while fellow junior Khyra Conerly (Oakland, Calif.) contributed 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
  • As a team, NCCU shot 18-for-62 from the field (29.0%), 3-for-12 from the three-point line (25.0%) and 7-for-10 from the charity stripe (70.0%) while also pulling down 45 boards, dishing five assists, collecting 12 steals and four team blocks.
