DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University women's cross country runner Amber Brooks finished in the top-five against nationally-ranked No. 4 Duke University as the Eagles competed in the Bull City Classic on Saturday, Aug. 31.

The NCCU-Duke cross-country dual meet started inside Wallace Wade Stadium prior to the NCCU-Duke football game. After completing one lap around the track within the stadium, runners then proceeded to the Al Buehler Trail before concluding the race on the Sally Meyerhof Fitness Loop.

Brooks, crossing the finish line in fifth place, completed the race with the time of 16 minutes and nine seconds. 

NCCU junior Regina Summerville finished seventh with a time of 17:44, followed by senior Delesha Conquest (18:15, eighth), junior Syrita Hunt 19:49, ninth), and sophomore Christa Landy (20:08, tenth).

On the men's side, rookies Gregory Coward,  Deandre James  and Victor Dunbar  finished seventh (22:13), eighth (23:10), and ninth place (26:09), respectively. Sophomore Brett Boykin-Roach ompleted the race in 10th place with a time of 27:44.

The NCCU men's and women's cross-country teams will host the Eagle-Aggie Cross Country Relay on Sept. 7 in Durham, N.C.
