GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior sprinter
Ashley McCoy finished in 14th place in the women’s 200-meter dash at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field East Region Preliminary Championships on Saturday (May 25) at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.
McCoy ended her final season as an NCCU student-athlete during the quarterfinals with a time of 23.61 seconds, falling two spots short of advancement to the national semifinals in Oregon. She advanced to the quarterfinals after earning the 20th slot with a time of 23.72 in the first round on Friday.
In addition, McCoy finished 28th in the 100m dash with a time of 11.62, four spots away for qualifying for the quarterfinals.
Senior high jumper
Willie Calvin finished 27th in the preliminary round of the men’s high jump after clearing the height of 2.05 meters (6’8.75”).
