NCCU SOFTBALL DROPS GAME THREE TO SCSU, 5-3

Perricelli Bats 2-for-2 during Loss to Lady Bulldogs

Box Score DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The North Carolina Central University softball team suffered a 5-3 decision to the Lady Bulldogs of South Carolina State during game three of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series on Sunday, April 14 in Durham, N.C., on Parkwood Athletic Field.

Despite equaling SCSU’s hits at eight, the Lady Eagles were unable to convert, leaving six runners stranded throughout the contest.

The Lady Bulldogs struck first scoring during the top of the third inning off of a wild pitch.

NCCU answered during the bottom half of the inning after Angelique Perricelli earned her first of two hits of the contest on a double hit to left field. Senior Nadia Jefferies then singled to first base, scoring Perricelli and tying the game at 1-1.

The fourth inning remained scoreless between both teams as the Lady Bulldogs pulled ahead 3-1 after the top of the fifth inning.

The Lady Eagles one run answer proved to not be enough during the fifth and six inning leaving them trailing SCSU after seven innings complete as NCCU fell to SCSU 5-3.

Rookie pitcher London Wood took home the loss, giving up four hits, three runs and one warm up.

The Lady eagles return to action on Tuesday, April 16 as the host the Norfolk State spartants in Durham, N.C., at Parkwood Athletic Field.
