GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior sprinter
Ashley McCoy ran the fastest time in the women’s 100-meter dash as the men and women’s track and field squads participated in the Aggie Invitational this weekend, April 12-13, hosted by North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C.
With only one meet remaining before the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championships, the time of 11.71 seconds marked a seasonal best for McCoy in the 100m dash.
The men’s team posted three top-five finishes. Senior
Willie Calvin finished second in the high jump, completing a jump of 2.10m.
Kevin Vincent placed fourth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.97.
The foursome of Vincent,
Phillip Barren, Snonsio Boye-Weah, and
Jaye Pratt finished the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:21.31 for a fourth place finish.
In addition to McCoy,
Amber Brooks finished the 1500m run in 4:51.71 while the 4x100m finished in 47.33 for the Lady Eagles. Both times qualified for a fourth place finish.
La'Creesha Gore,
Delesha Conquest,
Sararesa Hudson, and McCoy completed the 4x400m relay, ending in fifth place with a time 4:16.93.
The NCCU men’s and women’s outdoor track & field teams will return to action on April 25 at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa.
