www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The North Carolina Central University softball team suffered a pair of losses during the Lady Eagles first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match-up against the Lady Wildcats from Bethune-Cookman falling 11-4 and 9-1 on Saturday, March 31 in Durham, N.C., at Parkwood Athletic Field.
During game one the Wildcats took a quick 9-0 lead over NCCU during the first two innings. The Lady Eagles answered during the bottom of the second scoring one run after Regina Diaz reached first on a fields choice, advanced from a double from Bianka Molina and scored off of Joy Simpsons fumbled hit to the short stop.
After holding B-CU scoreless in the top of the third the Lady Eagles added an additional three runs to the board rallied by Diaz’s single to shortstop, Molina’s single to left field and Simpsons 2 RBI single up the middle.
The Lady Wildcats added two more runs to their lead during the fifth before sealing the 11-4 MEAC victory over NCCU.
In the second contest of the day the Lady Eagles struck first scoring their only run in the bottom of the first inning after Markell Wylie reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second, and scored off of Emerie Germs single to second base.
B-CU added two more runs in the top of the fourth and sixth giving them an eight run advantage at 9-1and ending the game after six innings played.
The Lady Eagles return to action on Thursday, April 4 as they head to Greenbsoro, N.C., to take on the Spartans of UNC-Greensboro in doubleheader action begining at 4 p.m.
