NCCU SOFTBALL TAKES ON TAR HEELS IN DOUBLEHEADER ACTION


DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The North Carolina Central University Lady Eagles softball team will make the 11-mile trip for a doubleheader against North Carolina on Tuesday (March 19) at Anderson Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.
 
The first pitch will be at 4:00 p.m. and the second game will follow at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free. 
 
The Lady Eagles (2-19) leading batter is freshman Amber Kirkland (Raleigh, N.C.), hitting .315 with 17 hits, five runs scored and five RBIs. Freshman Markell Wylie (Fayetteville, N.C.) is batting .276 with eight hits and two RBIs for NCCU.
 
Constance Orr leads Carolina (19-10) with a .373 batting average, totaling 31 hits with 26 RBIs and 19 runs scored through the first half of the season.
 
Carolina leads the series with the Lady Eagles 8-1, with the last meeting in 2008. NCCU’s lone victory in the series was a 13-11 win on March 23, 1977, in the second game of a doubleheader on the Tar Heels’ opening day of their inaugural season.
