NCCU VOLLEYBALL DROPS FINAL HOME MATCH TO FAMU, 3-0

Eagles Honor Russell, Raynor and Anthony on Senior Day

Box Score DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball team saw its three-match home win streak come to an end as the Eagles were out powered by the Florida A&M Rattlers, 3-0 (25-10, 25-13-25-4) on Sunday, Nov. 3 inside McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium on Senior Day.

Senior Kalin Russell led NCCU's offense collecting six kills and four digs while the setting duo of junior Alice Genna and sophomore Melissa Rabell Pinero each dished seven assists.

On the defensive side of the net four Eagles finished with five digs.

As a team, NCCU seized 17 kills on 64 attempts, amassed 16 assists and 27 digs.

Florida A&M was led by Ginna Lopez-Chavez who gathered 11 kills, three digs, four blocks and two service aces. Contributing to the Rattlers offensive success was Diana Gonzales who led the game with 34 assists and on the defensive end Joanie Del Castillo collected a game-high 12 digs.

Collectively, FAMU earned 43 kills on 80 attempts, seized 36 assists, 29 digs, 10 service aces and seven team blocks.

Next, the Eagles hit the road to wrap-up the 2013 season with a pair of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match-ups. NCCU takes on the Bulldogs of South Carolina State on Friday, Nov. 8 in Orangeburg, S.C., and the Tigers from Savannah State on Sunday, Nov. 10 in Savannah, Ga.
