BUIES CREEK, N.C. – North Carolina Central University rookie Christine Anthony recorded her third double-double of the season against Campbell University on Saturday, but the host Camels still cruised to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-22) victory over the Eagles in Buies Creek, N.C.

Anthony piled up 16 kills and 12 digs in the three-set match. Sophomore Dayana Arrufat Rondon added seven kills and six digs for NCCU. Redshirt freshman Melissa Rabell Pineiro assisted every one of the Eagles’ 29 kills, while adding three digs.

After only three ties and one lead change in the first two sets, the third set saw 10 ties and three lead changes as Campbell held on for a 25-22 match-clinching win.

Campbell was paced by Lorin Thomas with 10 kills, while Mallorie Cubillos collected a match-high 18 kills.

NCCU (2-15) returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 25 with a trip to Virginia to play Radford University at 7 p.m.
