NCCU SOFTBALL CONCLUDES REGULAR SEASON WITH THREE-GAME MATCHUP AT N.C. A&T

Lady Eagles look for the final three wins of the regular-season

THE GAME
The North Carolina Central University softball team concludes regular-season action with a three-game series against the Lady Aggies of North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C., at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex. 
  • Saturday, May 5 at N.C. A&T State University at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, May 6 at N.C. A&T State University at 12:00 p.m.
 
THE SERIES
The Lady Eagles and the Lady Aggies meet for the 12th time in school’s history this weekend.

  • N.C. A&T State University, located in Greensboro, N.C., is a member of the MEAC
  • The Lady Aggies are 13-30 overall and 5-7 in the conference

LAST DIAMOND CONTEST: NCCU 0 vs. HAMPTON 2 (May 2, 2012):
HAMPTON, VA. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) - The Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University fell to Hampton University 5-2 and 7-1 in a mid-week doubleheader on Wednesday, May 2 in Hampton, Va.
 
In the losses, NCCU gathered eight hits and three runs, as junior Shakemia Edwards led the squad with three hits and one RBI in game one of the afternoon.
 
Game one of the doubleheader began with NCCU junior Bianka Molina in the circle with 6.0 innings of pitching.  Molina struck out three HU batters, while allowing eight hits and five runs, as Edwards guided the offense with one run, three hits and one RBI on three times at bat.
 
NCCU gathered a single run in the top of the fourth and fifth inning, as HU amassed two runs in the bottom of the first and single runs in the bottom of the second, third and fourth innings.
 
During game two of Tidewater action, senior Aurora Baker pitched a complete game with 4.0 innings of play.  In her time on the mound, Baker allowed nine hits and seven runs against 20 batters.  Fellow senior Andrea Searls amassed one run and one hit on two times at bat, while sophomore Amanda Bullock notched one hit and one RBI in two times at bat.
 
HU led the competition from the top of the first with three runs.  The Pirates continued their home-based advantage with one run in the bottom of the third and an additional three runs in the bottom of the fourth after NCCU’s solo run in the top of the fourth.
 
The maroon and gray drops to 3-43 on the season.
 
NCCU takes on its final regular-season opponent in three-game series action on May 5-6 (Saturday and Sunday) in Greensboro, N.C., against North Carolina A&T State University.
