THE GAME
The North Carolina Central University softball is near the end of the regular season with two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponents remaining on the schedule before the conference tournament on May 5-10. On Wednesday, May 2, the Lady Eagles take on the Lady Pirates of Hampton University in a 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. doubleheader in Hampton, Va., at the Lady Pirates Softball Complex.

 THE SERIES
The Lady Eagles and the Lady Pirates met for the seventh time in school’s history, with Hampton leading the series 5-1.

LAST DIAMOND CONTEST: NCCU 0 at Florida A&M (April 21-22, 2012):
DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) - After suffering two losses on Saturday, April 21, the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University could not obtain a trail at revenge against the Rattlers of Florida A&M as the Sunday, April 22 match was postponed due to inclement weather.
 
On Saturday, April 21, NCCU fell to FAMU 4-1 and 4-2 at Piney Wood Park in Durham, N.C.
 
In game one of the day, FAMU took the lead with three runs in the top of the second and took their lead one run further in the top of the seventh for a score of 4-0.
 
The mighty maroon found offensive success in the bottom of the seventh as NCCU obtained a game-high three hits to gather a run for a final score of 4-1.
 
Lady Eagle junior Sarah Kaiser led the squad with two hits on three times at bat, while sophomore Cember Carmichael slugged one hit and one RBI.  Senior Aurora Baker, who was honored for her senior leadership and dedication to the NCCU softball team alongside Andre Searls and Nadia Moreta, pitched a complete game.  In seven innings of play, Baker struck out five FAMU batters and allowed six hits and four runs against 28 batters.
 
Arianna Stewart guided FAMU's offense with two hits, while Kiefi Myrick amassed two RBI, one hit and one run.  Jennifer Lindsey and Addie Dozier shared the pitching responsibilities.  Lindsey amassed four strikeouts and allowed two hits against 19 batters, as Dozier permitted three hits and one earned run against five batters.
 
FAMU once again took an early lead with two runs in the top of the second, nonetheless NCCU evened the contest with a single runs in the bottom of the fourth and the fifth for a 2-2 tie.  The Rattlers regained the lead in the top of the seventh for a 4-2 lead, NCCU was unable to answer back despite one runner reaching second base in the bottom of the seventh.
 
Kaiser was successful in game two as well, with two hits and one RBI, while fellow junior Bianka Molina pitched a complete game against 27 batters.  Molina attained five strikeouts and allowed nine hits and four runs.
 
Obie Roberson led the Rattlers during game two with two runs and two hits, as Christina Robbs tallied one hit and two RBI.  Whitney Robinson opened at the mound for FAMU, facing 20 batters, allowing three hits and two runs.  Ashley Minter closed out the contest and obtained the win against eight batters.  Minter allowed three hits and struck out one batters.
 
Sunday's contest has been postponed, the date is yet to be decided.
 
NCCU is 3-41 in the season and 0-11 in the southern division.
