N.C. STATE BATS TOO MUCH FOR NCCU

Watts and Edwards tally the two hits of the contest

Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – In the second all-time series meeting between North Carolina Central University and N.C. State University, the Wolfpack advanced to 2-0 on the series with a 13-0 victory in Dail Stadium on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in Raleigh, N.C.

Aurora Baker was the first Lady Eagle pitcher to the mound in the five inning contest, taking the loss after allowing 11 runs, which were all earned runs, in under two innings of actions.  NCCU newcomer Bianka Molina relieved Baker and allowed two runs in 2.1 innings pitched and notched two strikeouts in the diamond matchup.

State’s Morgan Peeler attained the win and her second win against the mighty maroon with five strikeouts and two hits against 16 batters.

NCCU’s Mae’Risha Watts and Shakemia Edwards tallied the two hits of the night, while Cember Carmichael gathered four putouts and Andrea Searls assisted on two chances.

The mighty maroon drops to 1-10 on the season and 0-2 in the series, as N.C. State advances to 8-7 on the season.

NCCU returns to action on Friday, March 2, as they take part in the three-day USC Upstate Tournament in Spartanburg, S.C.  During the South Carolina event, the Lady Eagles will face Lafayette (March 2), USC Upstate (March 3), Appalachian State (March 3) and Dayton (March 4).
