NCCU SOFTBALL MOVES VENUE TO CAMPBELL (BUIES CREEK, N.C.) ON TUESDAY

The change was made due to facility concerns at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C.

THE GAME
North Carolina Central University will venture to Buies Creek, N.C., on Tuesday, Feb. 21 to battle Big South foe Campbell University in a doubleheader, the first pitch is estimated to be thrown at 5:30 p.m.
 
The change was made due to facility concerns at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary, N.C.

THE SERIES
NCCU and Campbell are meeting for the eighth time in program history with the Camels clasping a 7-0 advantage in the series since 2009.  In a single game on April 25, 2011, CU took its seventh win 10-0 in Buies Creek, N.C.

CAMPBELL UNIVERSITY “CAMELS”
The Big South Camels visit Thomas Brooks Park after concluding the Hampton Inn Invitational with a 5-3 win over Towson in Buies Creek, N.C.  During the two-day event, which CU hosted, Campbell went 2-for-2 for an overall season record of 3-5.

UP NEXT
After Tuesday’s doubleheader, the Lady Eagles battle North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C. at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 28.  The contest marks assistant coach Alyssa Ishabashi’s return to the “Pack Nation” since her career as student-athlete at N.C. State. 
NCCU returns to host action for their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference matchup of the season with a doubleheader against Norfolk State University on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

LAST MEETING:  NCCU-0 CU-10 (April 25, 2011)
BUIES CREEK, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – In their third meeting this season against Campbell University on Monday, April 25, the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University suffered a 10-0 loss to the Camels in Buies Creek, N.C.
 
Campbell’s Olivia Scarborough pitched a complete no-hitter game. Scarborough faced 18 batters, striking out nine and walking four.
 
Shamika Chavis-Hodge began on the mound for the maroon and grey. In 3.1 innings of play, Chavis-Hodge faced 22 Camels, she struck out one batter and walked four. The sophomore pitcher also allowed Campbell’s 9-of-10 runs. Kayla McPeek was next on the circle, against four batters McPeek permitted one run and three hits.
 
Amanda Miller led the host offense going 2-for-2 on three times at bat. Raven Lee amassed four RBIs on the night.
 
The mighty maroon drops to 6-32 on the season.
The Lady Eagles travel to Orangeburg, S.C., for a three-game series against South Carolina State. The weekend begins with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 30, the first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
