Three Lady Eagles Score in Double Figures

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior, Chasidy Williams scored a team-high of 13 as the Lady Eagles fell short against the sharp shooters from Campbell University at the Gore Arena in Buies Creek, N.C., Nov. 16.

In addition to Williams, freshmen Tisha Dixon and Amber Neely also contributed double-digit performances scoring 12 and ten a piece.   

NCCU struck first, taking their first lead of the 2012-13 regular season after Dixon’s jumper at the 19:15 mark in the first half. CU would then go on a 9-0 run and lead for the remainder of the game. At the half NCCU trailed the Lady Camels 35-20.

A made free throw by junior Tenika Neely at the 10:14 mark would the close the gap to 13 for the Lady Eagles, the smallest margin between the Lady Camels and NCCU in the second half.

Williams also led the Lady Eagles on the boards with nine rebounds, seven offensive, and in steals with three, while shooting 5-for-6 from the line.

The Lady Eagles shot an impressive 22-for-29 from the charity stripe, making it to the line 22 more times than their opponents.

The Lady Camels were led by senior Tonisa Baker who led all-scorers with 14 points, also contributed seven rebounds, four steals and five assists. CU had five different student-athletes make at least one basket from 3-point land, shooting 53.3%. 

The Lady Eagles fall to 3-0 on the season and return to the court Nov. 20, when they make the trip to Cullowhee, N.C., to take on the Lady Catamounts of Western Carolina University. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
