NCCU’S ANTHONY RECORDS DOUBLE-DOUBLE IN LOSS AT UNCW

Eagles Host Rival North Carolina A&T on Friday at L.T. Walker Complex

WILMINGTON, N.C. – North Carolina Central University rookie outside hitter Christine Anthony recorded her sixth double-double of the season during a three-set loss (25-14, 25-18, 25-19) at UNC-Wilmington on Tuesday.

Anthony collected 11 kills, 11 digs and three blocks to lead the Eagles.

NCCU sophomore Dayana Arrufat Rondon added seven kills and eight digs, while junior Kalin Russell contributed five kills and a career-high 10 digs.

The Eagles got off to sluggish starts in each of the first two sets. They trailed 8-2 in the opener and 12-3 in the second set. Both sets resulted in convincing wins for the Seahawks.

In the third set, NCCU jumped out to a 6-3 lead before UNCW evened the set at 7-7. The Seahawks took a slim 14-12 advantage and then used a 5-0 run to pull away for the victory.

The Eagles return to action on Friday, Oct. 26 against rival North Carolina A&T at 7 p.m. in the LeRoy T. Walker Complex on the campus of NCCU.
