THE GAME
North Carolina Central University has started the home season 3-0 and is averaging 110.3 points a game inside the friendly confines of McDougald-McLendon Gym. NCCU looks to start the home slate at 4-0 for the second year-in-row as the Eagles host the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University, while also adding to its two-game winning streak.
THE SERIES
North Carolina Central University and Southern Wesleyan University have never met on the hardwood, but the two do share a comment opponent as the Warriors beat Barber-Scotia College 93-51 back on Nov. 5, 2011. This is the second NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) opponent the Eagles have faced in the last three ballgames.

SOUTHERN WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY "WARRIORS"
Southern Wesleyan University is a four-year and graduate Christian college located in Central, South Carolina. The University was founded in 1906 by what is now the Wesleyan Church. On the court and playing field, the Warriors compete in the Division I level of NAIA and is affiliated with the Southern States Athletic Conference. Entering play on Tuesday, the Warriors are 4-2 on the season and are led by head coach Charles Wimphrie who is in his 20th season at the helm. The Warriors are coming off a 16-12 season and are poised for another winning campaign. SWU is led by 6-9 center Nikola Lambic who leads the squad averaging 16.6 points a game while shooting 64.1 percent from the field. 6-6 junior forward Kenny Joyner is second on the team in both scoring and rebounding dropping in 13.7 points a game and grabbing 6.0 rebounds per contest. SWU boasts two other student-athletes who score in double figures as junior and Raleigh, N.C. native Nate Miller averages 12.2 points per game while his teammate 6-1 sophomore David Brown is averaging 11.7 points a contest. Both Miller and Brown are excellent three-point shooters with Miller hitting 13-of-29 (44.8 percent) shots from the outside and David Brown (15-of-31) hitting 48.4 percent from three-point land. Southern Wesleyan University prepares students for leadership and graduate study in such fields as business, education, religion, music, medicine, law and a variety of civic and social service professions. It offers approximately 35 major areas of study for undergraduates and also offers graduate degrees in the areas of business, education and ministry. The university currently serves approximately 2,400 students. There are more than 600 traditional undergraduates enrolled at the main campus in Central, S.C. In addition, undergraduate and graduate programs are offered in an accelerated format at regional learning centers in Central, Greenville, Columbia, Charleston, North Augusta, Greenwood and Spartanburg.
RAY RAY WHADDYA SAY!
During the week of Thanksgiving, junior guard Ray Willis feasted on his opponents to the point where it garnered MEAC Player of the Week honors from the league. Willis averaged 22.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals to lead NCCU to a pair of non-conference wins last week. Against Morris College, Willis went a perfect 8-for-8 from the field and was 8-for-10 from the free-throw line to finish with a season-high 24 points in the Eagles 112-50 victory. He also added four assists, four steals, three rebounds, and two blocked shots while playing 25 minutes. In the 104-55 win over Barber-Scotia College on Saturday, Nov. 26, Willis nearly recorded his first NCCU double-double with a 19-point, nine rebound effort.
IT’S RAINING THREES
In the 104-55 win over Barber-Scotia senior sharpshooter Landon Clement not only became the 7th Eagle to record 130 career three pointers, he hit the most shots from the outside in a game (7-for-13) since January 30, 2002 when Shawn Ray ( hit seven shots from the perimeter against Johnson C. Smith. Landon has hit 130 career three pointers and needs 3 to tie Ray for sixth all-time in career three pointers made.
