DURHAM, N.C. (www. NCCUEaglePride.com) – The North Carolina Central University women’s basketball team is set to welcome the Fighting Lady Camels of Campbell on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 6:00 p.m. in McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium.

Thursday’s contest marks the 12th meeting with the Camels.  Campbell leads the series 9-to-2, with the Buies Creek, N.C., foes seizing a 67-61 victory on Dec, 14, 2010 at Campbell during the 2010-11 season.

Three Lady Eagles netted in double figures in the loss, with NCCU graduates Jori Nwachukwu and Shanise Blanks topping the squad with 14 points apiece and senior Blaire Houston rounded out the top performances with 10 points.
In last season’s victory, the Camels were led by Lauren Yesh, who has graduated from Campbell, with 12 points and sophomore Ashley James and senior Amanda O’Neill dropping 11 points apiece.

NCCU (0-2) welcomes the Big South foe after a 73-58 loss to Wofford on Monday, Nov. 14 in Spartanburg, S.C.

Maroon and gray junior Chasidy Williams finished the night with her first double-double performance of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore Alesha Jenkins and freshman Kabrina Truesdale finished with seven apiece.  Senior Blaire Houston was the second highest rebounder with six boards.  Sophomore Sierra Solomon forced five WC turnovers, while lobbing six assists.

NCCU finished at 39 percent from the field on 24-of-61 shooting, 13 percent from behind the arc, and 38 percent from the free-throw line, 8-of-21.

Senior Katelyn Bass topped the night with 18 points for the Camels, while sophomore Roslyn Presley finished with 14 points and junior Tonisha Baker collecting 13 points.  Senior Kate Coxton tossed out six assists, as senior Amanda O’Neill stole five Montreat possessions.

On the season, Williams guides the Lady Eagles’ offense with 38 points for an average 19.0 points per contest, while pulling down 17 rebounds on the season.  Sophomore Sierra Solomon has circulated eight assists and stolen six opponent’s possessions.

Collectively NCCU is 38 percent from the field on 41-of-110 shooting, 32 percent from the long range, and 47 percent from the free-throw line, 16-of-34.
After their first game of the season, Campbell is 45 percent from the field on 30-of-47 shooting, 17 percent from behind the arc, and 50 percent from the charity stripe, 12-of-24.
