TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) – The North Carolina Central University volleyball will conclude their three-match road trip with a 7:00 p.m. contest against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foes Florida A&M on Monday, Oct. 10 in Tallahassee, Fla., in Al Lawson Center.
The Eagles (1-19) return to action following a four-set (25-19, 17-25, 25-22, 25-12) loss to the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Daytona Beach, Fla. Freshman Dayanna Arrufat obtained her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 10 digs.
This season, the maroon and grey is led by freshman Dayanna Arrufat, sophomore Jzima-Malaki Kalao and senior Tasha-Gaye Richards. Arrufat paces NCCU in kills with 164 kills on the season for an average of 2.52 kills per set, while leading in digs with 121. Kalao leads the Eagles in assists (298) and service aces (14), while Richards guides the blocking campaign with 33 total blocks this year.
Collectively, the mighty maroon have amassed 610 kills, 556 assists, 82 service aces, 642 digs and 89 total blocks.
The Rattlers are led by offensive duo Maria Ceccarelli and Katherine Huanec. Ceccarelli paces in kills with 128, while Huanec follows with 112 on the year. Diana Gonzales guides this setting campaign with 348 assists for an average 8.28 assists per set. Ceccarelli leads the squad in service aces with 13. Defensively, FAMU is led by Karol Marquez with 166 digs, while Lorrin Rucker has blocked 25 opponent’s attempts.
As a unit, Florida A&M has collected 485 kills, 442 assists, 52 service aces, 504 digs and 42.5 total blocks.
Following Monday’s contest, NCCU will hosts two home matches battling Savannah State on Friday, Oct. 14 and the defending MEAC Champions South Carolina State on Sunday, Oct. 16.
