NCCU RECEIVER SCOTT INVITED TO GREEN BAY PACKERS ROOKIE CAMP

Two-Sport Standout Earns NFL Tryout This Weekend

April 30, 2010

DURHAM, N.C. (www.NCCUEaglePride.com) - Will Scott, North Carolina Central University's leading receiver the past two gridiron seasons, has been invited to join the Green Bay Packers rookie orientation camp this weekend for a tryout.

Scott, a native of Charlotte, N.C., used his speed, athleticism and big-play ability to become one of the top receivers in NCCU history. Among the school's all-time career leaders, Scott ranks sixth with 1,975 receiving yards, eighth with 121 receptions and is tied for fifth with 19 touchdown receptions.

A consistent threat down the field for the Eagles from 2007-09, Scott made the most of his 3.9 catches per contest by averaging 16.3 yards per grab and 63.7 yards per game during his college career, in which he caught at least one pass in every game he played for three consecutive seasons (2007-09).

As a senior in 2009, Scott collected 45 receptions for 706 yards and 10 touchdowns, becoming only the third receiver in school history to catch 10 or more touchdown passes in a season. In his final college game versus Savannah State (Nov. 21), Scott amazed the home crowd with seven catches for 120 yards and three touchdowns, all while wearing a cast to protect a broken bone in his hand.

A two-time Team Offensive Most Valuable Player (2007, 2008), Scott tallied 45 catches for 787 yards and five touchdowns as a junior, while adding 31 receptions for 482 yards and four scores as a sophomore.

Prior to his graduation from NCCU in December 2009, Scott also excelled in track & field at NCCU, highlighted by winning the college division triple jump at the prestigious 2008 Penn Relays with a leap of 15.46 meters (50-feet, 8.75-inches). He also earned All-America honors during the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships by placing fourth in the triple jump, was the CIAA Champion in the indoor triple jump in 2007, and claimed all-conference recognition in the triple and long jumps.

Born Feb. 23, 1987, in Charlotte, N.C., he is the son of Reginald and Deborah Scott.
