NCCU looks to improve upon 7-22 campaign last season

DURHAM, N.C. (NCCUEaglePride.com) - The North Carolina Central University men’s basketball team begins year number two of the LeVelle Moton era Friday night (Nov. 12) against the Wildcats from Johnson & Wales University. Tipoff from McDougald-McLendon Gym is set for 7:00 p.m.

Friday marks the first time during the transition to the NCAA’s Division I level that the Eagles will begin the season in the friendly confines of their home gym. Over the last three seasons, NCCU has had a total of 28 home games and were 7-4 last year in Durham, finishing with a winning record at home for the first time in the Division I era.

Friday’s opponent has already played six games and enters the affair with a 0-6 record. The Wildcats last contest came on Nov. 6 against Reinhardt University, as JWU fell 93-34 and was held to just 11 field goals in the contest and shot 23.9 percent from the field. Senior Jeffrey Perry led the Wildcats with seven points in the loss. JWU’s average margin of defeat after its six losses is 44.2 points per game.

The Eagles will have a quick turnaround following Friday’s ballgame, as NCCU departs for Norman, Okla., to battle Big 12 opponent Oklahoma on Monday at 8:00 p.m. (EST). The broadcast of Monday night’s contest against the Sooners can be heard online at NCCUEaglePride.com.
