More commonly known as "Bulldog," George Smith oversees facilities and game operations.
He served as Assistant Athletics Director for Student Development for his first five years with the Eagles, until being promoted to Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs in 2006.
Smith came to NCCU via the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was Assistant Athletics Director and Director of Strength and Conditioning from 1993-2000. He has also worked in strength and conditioning at the University of Colorado (1992), Georgia Southern (1989-91), and Fairfield Central High School.
A native of Denmark, SC, Smith earned both his undergraduate (1984) and master's (1987) degrees from the University of South Carolina, where he was a two-year starter on the offensive line. During his high school days at Denmark Olar, Smith was named State Player of the Year.
In the spring of 2003, Smith was among 21 minority athletic administrators nationally to graduate from the 2003 NCAA Leadership Institute for Minority Males.
In May of 2006, Smith was named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa), the highest honor given in the strength and conditioning profession.
He is the proud father of two sons, Jayden and Zane.
