Eric Douglass, no stranger to the Triangle area, joined the NCCU women’s tennis coaching staff as a volunteer assistant ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Douglass brings a wealth of knowledge as a player and coach of the sport. He played for Principia College in Elsah, Ill. facing fellow Division III competition in No.3 Singles and No.1 Doubles.

The two-year captain was an All-Conference and Academic All-American performer with the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference on teams that ranked as high as ninth and fourth nationally during his junior and senior years, respectively.

After finishing college, Douglass traveled to Europe and played club tennis professionally and taught at country clubs in Paris and France. He also was a hitting partner while in Europe for several ATP and WTA professionals at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Upon his return to the United States, Douglass worked in the sports, entertainment and music industries, most notably at multiple Superbowls with the NFL, several Grammy Awards with the Recording Academy, the PGA Tour (AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the Masters, etc.), USTA (US Open) and the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Most recently, Douglass was the tennis head coach at Meredith College for two seasons up until 2024.
