Shemika Mintz joined the NCCU women’s basketball program as an assistant coach prior to the 2014-15 season.
Mintz, who played four seasons under NCCU head coach Vanessa Taylor at Johnson C. Smith University, is in her second season with the Lady Eagles. Her duties at NCCU include scouting reports, help with offensive and defensive schemes for games, position breakdowns, skill sessions, team travel and expense reports, video coordination and day-to-day operations.
Prior to NCCU, Mintz spent one season as assistant women’s basketball coach at Maret High School in Washington, D.C.
Mintz has also served as a camp counselor at the Caron Butler Basketball Camp in Chantilly, Virginia (2007-09), the Roger Mason Basketball Camp in Owings Mills, Maryland (2007-09), and the Queen Anne School Basketball Camp in Largo, Maryland (2005-10).
Mintz was recognized by JCSU as a 1,000-point scorer for the Golden Bulls. She also totaled 492 rebounds, 228 steals, 154 assists and 22 blocks. She participated in the NCAA Division II Tournament twice under Coach Taylor from 2004-2008.
Mintz graduated from JCSU in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a minor in marketing.
