London Germ, who played two seasons for the Lady Eagles, was promoted to assistant coach of the NCCU softball program in September of 2015. Germ spent her first season on the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant after graduating from NCCU in December of 2014.

Germ worked with the outfielders and slappers as a volunteer coach during the 2015 season. She completed a professional internship under the guidance of Head Coach Teresa Stephens during the fall of 2014, where she helped design and build the NCCU softball locker room, managed travel itinerary’s and helped put on camps and clinics.

In her increased roll with the Lady Eagles’ fastpitch program as first assistant coach, Germ will help assist Coach Stephens with most day-to-day operations of the program including practices, travel, budget, recruiting, fundraising, community service and academics.

The Chattanooga, Tennessee, product started her coaching career as an assistant coach at Needham B. Broughton High School during her senior season at NCCU.

Germ had a successful playing career in her two seasons at NCCU, earning MEAC All-Academic honors both years. As a junior, Germ played in all 49 games and hit .271 with an on-base percentage of .301 in 2013. In her final season, Germ started in 44 games and batted .300 with nine stolen bases despite playing with a torn labrum to earn the team’s True Grit award.

The two-time region player of the year and all-state player at Creekview High School in Canton, Georgia, began her collegiate career at Chattanooga State Community College. Germ started 56 games for the Tigers and batted .430 with 24 stolen bases before earning second team all-conference accolades. That CSCC squad won a regular season conference title and earned a top-10 ranking in the country.

Germ first transferred to Northwest Florida State College for one season and earned her associate’s degree before coming to NCCU. She posted a .315 batting average with 13 stolen bases for a Raiders team that ranked No. 2 in the nation in batting average.

Germ – who grew up in a softball household and got to play with her sister, Emerie, in 2014 and coached her in 2015 – earned a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation administration from NCCU in December of 2014.  She graduated with honors under magna cum laude.
