Dr. Sierra Hobbs was named Assistant Athletics Director for Sports Medicine at North Carolina Central University in March of 2024.

Prior to NCCU, Hobbs was appointed as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine at Morgan State University in January of 2023. She spent the past 14 months in that position, overseeing the athletic training staff and providing primary coverage to football and men’s basketball while with the Bears.
Hobbs brings back an extensive resume of experience to Durham with time as Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine at Clark Atlantic University (2022), Director of Sports Medicine at Alabama State (2021-22), Outreach Athletic Trainer at VCU Health (2019-21), Assistant Athletic Trainer at Fayetteville State University (2018-19) and Athletic Trainer at San Marino High School (2017-18).
While at Clark Atlanta, Hobbs also spent time as an Athletic Trainer for Source Fitness Management.
Hobbs oversaw all aspects of the sports medicine department at Alabama State, including being the chief liaison to team doctors and the university’s relationship with Rehab Associates.
In her stint with VCU Health, Hobbs provided athletic training services to Virginia Union University and the football, women’s basketball, track and field, cross country and softball programs.
Hobbs provided coverage for all 12 varsity sports at Fayetteville state with a focus on football and women’s basketball.
After finishing up her master’s degree, Hobbs stayed in her home state of California to begin her career at San Marino High School, working primarily with football and girls’ varsity soccer.
A native of Long Beach, California, Hobbs earned a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from NCCU in 2010, graduating with honors. Hobbs then went obtained her Master of Science in kinesiology with a concentration in sports medicine and injury studies from California State University Long Beach in 2017, also graduating in honors. In June 2022, Hobbs received a Doctor of Athletic Training with an emphasis in leadership education and orthopedics from A.T. Still University.
Hobbs is interested in dancing, roller skating, traveling, shopping and spending time with family & friends.
