NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University sophomore defensive back Joshua Truesdale was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, the conference announced Monday.

Truesdale recorded a career-high 17 tackles, including 12 solo stops, during the Eagles' road contest against Gardner-Webb on Saturday.

The Charlotte, N.C. native has led NCCU in tackles in each of the past two games. He registered 10 tackles, an interception, half a tackle for loss and two pass breakups in the Eagles' 30-22 victory over North Carolina A&T on Sept. 12.

Over the past two contests, Truesdale has accumulated 27 tackles and an interception.

The Palisades High School product becomes the first NCCU player to earn multiple MEAC weekly awards this season. His recognition also marks the fourth consecutive week an Eagle has received one of the conference's weekly football honors.

NCCU (2-2) returns to action Saturday, Sept. 26, when the Eagles travel to Greenville, N.C., to face East Carolina at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
