BALTIMORE, Md. – Tyler Suttles and
Mia De La Fuente each drove in a run for North Carolina Central in a 5-2 MEAC softball loss to Morgan State at Lois T. Murray Field on Saturday.
The loss was the first in the conference for the Eagles after three straight league victories (3-1 MEAC, 4-22 overall). Morgan State (1-3 MEAC, 4-15 overall) captured its first conference victory to extend its win streak to three.
The Eagles started fast, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Suttles singled in
Daiyah Bailey and later scored on De La Fuente's single.
The Bears rebounded with a run in the bottom of the first inning. They added four runs in the second inning to take the lead for good.
Suttles batted 2 of 3 with two stolen bases for the Eagles, who tallied six hits including a hit apiece from
Sierra Soto,
Cameron Frye and Bailey. Morgan State finished with nine hits.

Both teams conclude the series on Sunday with a doubleheader instead of a single game. The schedule changed due to field conditions caused by Friday's wet weather. The first game of the twinbill begins at 12 p.m. followed by the second game at approximately 2 p.m.
