Eagles Drop Road Match at UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – In its second straight day of competition, the North Carolina Central men's tennis team fell 5-0 at North Carolina on Sunday evening at the Chewning Tennis Center. The teams played to clinch, with two singles matches finishing nearly simultaneously.

NCCU (1-4) dropped the doubles point as UNC claimed victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Leo Fortier-Gariepy and Pol Puig Montiel were tied 6-6 in an unfinished match at No. 3 doubles and were in the midst of a tiebreaker when doubles play concluded versus UNC's nationally ranked duo.

UNC (7-2) faced Campbell earlier in the day before meeting the Eagles. The Tar Heels won at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to build a 3-0 lead before matches at the No. 5 and No. 1 positions clinched North Carolina's victory.

The Eagles will host their first home match of the season Friday, Feb. 20, welcoming North Carolina Wesleyan to the Cary Tennis Park. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
