NCCU’s Harris, Johnson Earn MEAC Weekly Honors

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University quarterback Walker Harris and defensive lineman Thomas Johnson were named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced on Monday.

Harris, who was also named Stats Perform National HBCU Player of the Week, had his best game of the 2025 season this past Saturday evening in a 49-19 win over Fayetteville State. He accounted for four touchdowns – three through the air, one on the ground – while completing 23 of 36 passes for a career-high 387 yards.

He connected with eight different receivers as the Eagles racked up 499 yards of total offense, and each wideout hauled in at least two catches.

Johnson tied for the team lead with five tackles on Saturday, all solo stops, while also racking up a pair of sacks for a total of 18 yards. Johnson has recorded at least one sack in every game so far this season.

The Eagles will return to action on Saturday, when they head to Greensboro, N.C., for the annual Aggie-Eagle Classic against North Carolina A&T. Saturday's game will kick off from Truist Stadium at 4 p.m., and it will air live on FloFootball.
