Eagles Close Series With Win Over Morgan State

CARY, N.C. – North Carolina Central regrouped from Saturday's doubleheader losses to beat Morgan State 3-2 in the series' final game at Thomas Brooks Park on Sunday.

Jaden Davis fired a three-hitter and Daiyah Bailey, Makiya Graves and Kia Borum each collected an RBI for the Eagles (8-28, 5-7 MEAC), who totaled nine hits.

Graves' RBI single tied the score 1-1 in the first inning. The game-deciding inning was the fourth when Borum and Bailey both singled in runs for a 3-1 lead.

Morgan State threatened in the seventh inning. The Lady Bears (13-20, 9-3 MEAC) scored on a throwing error and had a runner on first with two outs. But Davis forced a groundout to end the game.

Davis struck out four and allowed no earned runs in seven complete innings to improve to 5-3 in conference games. No earned runs were scored on Davis in the series (Two games/14 innings).

Both Davis and Takia Nichols were 2 of 3 with a double each to lead the Eagles offensively. Tyler Suttles added a double and scored a run, and Cameron Frye and Codi Mann each scored one run.

Morgan Alvarez doubled and scored a run for Morgan State.

The Eagles conclude their home schedule next weekend with a three-game series against Maryland Eastern Shore. A doubleheader is scheduled for April 12 and a single game is set for April 13, which is designated as Senior Day.
