Callahan Scores Season-High 22 In Loss To High Point

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Morgan Callahan scored a season-high 22 points for North Carolina Central in an 82-60 women's basketball loss to High Point at Qubein Center on Sunday.

Callahan was 8 of 17 from the floor and added six rebounds for the Eagles. She was one point away from tying her career high of 23 points set in a win over Pfeiffer on Jan. 23, 2025.

The NCCU forward was the lone double-figure scorer for the Eagles. Tierney Coleman and Najah Lane each added seven points.

The Eagles led 24-18 in the second quarter after a 6-0 run capped by Callahan's layup, but High Point came back to tie the score at 26-26. With the score knotted at 28-28, the Panthers ended the quarter with an 8-0 run for a 36-28 halftime lead.

The Panthers (10-1 overall) stretched their margin to double digits in the second half.

NCCU shot 40.7 percent and forced 23 turnovers - 11 which were steals - which led to 24 turnover points. The Eagles also held a 10-7 edge in offensive rebounds to outscore the Panthers 14-8 in second chance points.

Callahan scored over 20 points for the first time since March 6, 2025, when she dropped 22 points in a victory at South Carolina State. The Eagles' forward has poured in 20 or more points seven times in her career.

NCCU (1-9 overall) played its second game this season against a Big South team. The Eagles defeated UNC Asheville 66-53 at home on Nov. 13, 2025.

This was also the Eagles' second contest against a team ranked among the top 25 mid-majors as High Point entered Sunday ranked ninth. The Eagles previously faced College of Charleston (ranked 15th) and will take on Howard twice (19th) in MEAC play.
