GREENVILLE, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University softball team was held to just one hit off the bat of senior
Hailey Batista in a couple of shutout losses to host East Carolina University on the final day of the Pirate Invitational on Sunday.
The Pirates won 6-0 and 5-0 to extend their win streak to six straight games and improve to an impressive 16-1 on the season.
After being held hitless in a combined no-hitter tossed by four Pirate pitchers in the opener, Batista doubled in start the top of the second inning of the night cap for NCCU's lone hit.
Graduate student Morgan Johnson hit a home run in each game and led ECU's offense with five RBI and four runs. Freshman Kanisha Anderson topped the Pirates with three hits on the day.
The Eagles stuck out 15 times.
NC Central (4-11) will continue its tough stretch of games with a single game at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
