DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University men's tennis team was defeated 7-0 by No. 23 Florida State at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Courts on Sunday night.

Sebastian Pino fell to Andreja Petrovic 6-4, 6-1, sophomore
Oliver Saarinen was clipped by Jamie Connel 6-1, 6-3, and junior
Shaka Cristellotti was beaten by Maks Silagy 6-0, 6-1.

Kareem Abdul Hakim nearly won a set but fell to Alex Bulte 6-1, 7-6. Abdul Hakim's classmates
Naresh Bharathy and
Facundo Olmedo was beaten by Barnaby Smith and John Bernard 6-4, 6-3, and 6-1, 6-2, respectively.
In doubles, Pino/Saarinen was clipped by J. Dous-Karpenschif and Youcef Rihane (6-1), Bharathy/Abdul Hakim was defeated by Smith/Silagy (6-1), while Cristellotti and freshman
Liam Murtaugh's match against Bernard and A. Cornut-Chauvinc was unfinished.
Up next, NCCU (1-11) will host the 2023 MEAC Round-Up at Cary Tennis Park from Thursday, March 16 to Saturday, March 18. The Eagles will battle Coppin State on Thursday at 9 a.m., face Morgan State on Friday at 3 p.m., and play Howard on Saturday at noon.
