CARY, N.C. – Siena College scored double-digits in both contests of North Carolina Central University's home-opening softball doubleheader on Saturday, as the visiting Saints registered a pair of wins (10-2, 10-5) at Thomas Brooks Park to remain undefeated.
In the opener,
Jaden Davis used a single to drive in
Jai'lyn Edwards, who ripped a one-out double, to provide NCCU (0-4) with a 1-0 lead in the second inning.
Siena (4-0) responded with eight runs in the top of the third inning and sealed the victory with two more runs in the fifth frame.
In the second game, the Saints posted three runs in three consecutive innings to jump out to a 9-0 cushion through five innings. NCCU tallied four runs in the bottom of the fifth, powered by a bases-clearing, three RBI double by
Jaidyn Hamby, to extend the contest, but Siena held on for the 10-5 triumph.
NCCU committed eight errors in the nightcap, resulting in six unearned runs. Relief pitcher
Ashanti Eubanks recorded a pair of hits for the Eagles.
The three-game weekend series wraps up on Sunday at 10 a.m. at Thomas Brooks Park. Admission is free.
