Stats Perform Names NCCU FCS National Team of the Week

Eagles Move into FCS Top 25 for First Time Since 2017

DURHAM, N.C. – Stats Perform announced North Carolina Central University as the FedEx Ground FCS National Team of the Week, after the Eagles knocked off nationally-ranked New Hampshire, 45-27, on the road to improve to 3-0 on the season.

In Monday's press release, Stats Perform author Craig Haley wrote, "The Eagles never trailed against UNH while beating a nationally ranked opponent for the first time since 2016 and improving to 3-0 for the first time in their Division I era (since 2008). Davius Richard's 140 rushing yards were the most by an NCCU quarterback in 23 years, and he accounted for 334 yards of total offense and three touchdowns. Khalil Baker scored off a 25-yard interception return. Coach Trei Oliver's MEAC squad owns the FCS' longest active winning streak (six)."

NCCU also moved into the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 poll at No. 25, the Eagles' first regular season national ranking since Oct. 16, 2017.

To start the season, NCCU has defeated North Carolina A&T 28-13, Winston-Salem State 41-0, and No. 25 New Hampshire 45-27.

Up next, NCCU hosts Virginia-Lynchburg on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. inside O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium.
