DURHAM, N.C. – All four Eagles that played on Saturday won in both singles and doubles as the North Carolina Central University men's tennis team coasted to a 7-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference victory over Norfolk State.
The senior trio of
Miles Clark,
Sebastian Pino and
Amit Baran joined freshman
Oliver Saarinen in the win column for the Eagles.
NCCU improved to 4-13 on the season while leveling its league ledger at 2-2. Norfolk State departed at 2-12 and 1-5.
Clark played in the only three-set affair, prevailing 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 in the top listed singles showdown for his team-leading seventh win.
Pino followed with his sixth triumph of the campaign with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph on court two.
On the next court over, Baran rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 conquest for his third win of the season.
Saarinen had the most dominating victory as he only lost on game in a 6-1, 6-0 win at the fourth position in the lineup for his fourth triumph of his rookie season.
Pino and Saarinen kept their strong doubles play going together as they won for a sixth straight time. Pino/Saarinen (8-6) only lost one game in their 6-1 win.
Clark and Baran finished off doubles play with a 6-4 win. Clark/Baran evened their season long partnership with the win as they hold a record of 6-6.
NC Central is next scheduled to host North Carolina A&T State University in a non-conference match on Thursday, April 7 at 2 p.m.
