NCCU Finishes Opening Road Swing with Loss at Davidson


DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson College Wildcats leveled their record with a 7-0 home win over visiting North Carolina Central University on Friday afternoon at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
 
Senior Miles Clark was involved in the only three-set singles match of the day for the Eagles. He won his opening set, but sophomore Alejandro Solares rallied and won a close third-set superset to preserve the sweep atop the Wildcats' lineup.
 
Davidson (3-3) won the other five singles matches in straight sets.
 
Playing for the Eagles were Clark (L, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8), senior No. 2 Sebastian Pino (L, 7-5, 6-2) senior No. 3 Amit Baran (L, 6-4, 6-1), freshman No. 4 Oliver Saarinen (L, 6-2, 6-1), sophomore No. 5 Shaka Cristellotti (L, 6-0, 6-2) and junior No. 6 LaQuon Gilchrist (L, 6-4, 6-0).
 
NC Central (0-8) will next make its home debut when the Eagles host Hampton University on Friday, March 4 at 3 p.m.
