McDaniel Collects 178 Receiving Yards in Loss to Aggies

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior receiver Ryan McDaniel amassed more receiving yards than any other NCCU Eagle in more than four years during a 37-14 setback to North Carolina A&T on Saturday night.

McDaniel achieved 178 yards on nine receptions, including a 77-yard touchdown. His prior game-high was 74 receiving yards back in 2019. The last time an Eagle posted such receiving numbers was on Oct. 28, 2017, when Jacen Murphy tallied 189 yards versus Delaware State.

NCCU sophomore quarterback Davius Richard completed 21 of 35 passes for 225 yards, including the 77-yard scoring connection with McDaniel. Richard also topped the Eagles in rushing with 29 ground yards.

Defensively, defensive back JaJuan Hudson recorded a team-high 10 tackles, followed by linebacker Matt Stevens with nine stops.

NC A&T (1-2) recorded 427 yards of total offense, including 254 yards rushing. Kashon Baker led the Aggie ground game with 137 yards and a touchdown.

Up next, NCCU (2-2) travels to Mississippi Valley State on Oct. 2.
