DURHAM, N.C. – The 2021 North Carolina Central University men's tennis season came to a close on Sunday, as the Eagles dropped its final match to Elon University, 7-0, at the NCCU Tennis Courts.
NCCU junior
Sebastian Pino won his opening set 6-3 at the third singles position, but then lost the second set in a tiebreaker to force a third set super-tiebreaker. In the extra session, Elon senior Camilo Ponce rallied for a 10-7 set win to earn the match victory.
At the fifth singles spot, NCCU senior
Miles Clark battled through an injury, but came up just short in a 6-2, 7-5 loss to Elon senior Chung-Han Tsai.
In doubles action, the NCCU duo of
Amit Baran and
Shaka Cristellotti had a narrow 6-4 setback in the second position to Elon's Nicholas Condos and Nicholas Campbell.
NCCU concludes the season with a 1-8 record, while Elon improves to 13-5.
