DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University redshirt sophomore
Latrell Collier has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for November 2021 in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments on the field and in the classroom.
The Eagles went 3-0 in the final month of the season and Collier led the team with five touchdowns (four rushing, one receiving) while rushing for 202 yards for an average of 6.5 yards per carry over that span.
Collier's late-season success helped NCCU finish as the MEAC runner-up and earn the program's first winning season since 2017.
The running back from Bluefield, West Virginia, finished the season leading a balanced and deep backfield with an average of 36.27 yards per game. Collier scored nine total touchdowns in 11 games, including reaching the end zone in all three November wins against Norfolk State University, Howard University and Delaware State University.
Collier has led the Eagles in touchdowns scored each of the last two seasons played for 14 total scores in his first two seasons for NCCU.
The 2021 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Academic Team honoree maintains a 3.64 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a recreation administration major. Collier plans to pursue a master's degree and continue playing football at NCCU after his expected graduation in May 2022.
