GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina Central University sophomore
Ashley Jean-Raymond placed third overall to lead the Lady Eagles to victory in the Division I standings of the 36th annual Greensboro Cross Country Invitational at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro on Saturday.
Jean-Raymond posted a time of 19:55.6 on the 5k course, as the NCCU women's team edged rival North Carolina A&T by one point, 28-29, to claim the Division I crown.
Ca'Jazzalyn Hairston-Waller was the next Lady Eagle to cross the finish line in 16th place with a time of 22:59.9.
On the men's side, the Eagles settled for second place behind North Carolina A&T by a score of 15-43. Sophomore
Ashton Drake topped NCCU with a 12th place performance in 5:54.8 on the 8k course, followed by
Mackenson Yrelus in 14th place (29:51.0).
Up next, the NCCU men's and women's teams compete in the Cedric Walker HBCU Challenge on Oct. 5 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.
