ELON, N.C. – Sophomores
Ashley Jean-Raymond and
Ashton Drake topped the North Carolina Central University women's and men's cross country teams at the Elon Opener on Friday night.
Jean-Raymond finished in 45th place out of 89 competitors with a time of 16:01.2 on the 4k course, while Drake completed the 6k race in 20:53.9 to place 66th out of 114 men's runners.
The NCCU women placed ninth, beating out Shaw. Elon triumphed in the women's competition, followed by North Carolina and Campbell.
The NCCU men placed 10th, finishing ahead of Shaw and William Peace. Duke won the men's event, followed by runner-up Campbell and North Carolina.
