Question: Tell me something interesting about yourself that others may not know.Â
Erik: "I'm the first boy in my family to attend college and also play a sport in college. Also, I'll be the second to graduate from college in my family."Â
Â
Q: Why did you choose NCCU?Â
ES: "Central was my first and really only offer out of junior college. Coach (Jerry) Mack told me straight up if I wanted to win a championship and get a degree at the same time, we have a spot for you. So I took it a ran with it."Â
Â
Q: What is your major? What do you want to do after NCCU?
ES: "I'm a parks and recreation management major. When I leave Central I want to work in the athletic field of either university or high school here in N.C. or back home in Florida."
Â
Q: What do you like most about being an NCCU Eagle?Â
ES: "So many things I can say about being a student-athlete here, but the best part of this whole journey is the community, staff, and alumni all know who you are and always show love to us athletes. You can't get that back home in Florida."Â
Â
Q: What has been your most memorable moment at NCCU?
ES: "There's a couple, but nothing will ever top beating the school from Greensboro and storming the field right after."Â
Â
Q: What is your favorite part of game day at O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium?
ES: "Running out on that field is the best part... being able to throw the pads on one more time."
Â
Q: Do you have any pre-game rituals?
ES: "Coming out at least two hours before game time, running around and getting loose. Once it's time to come out, I run to the end zone and say a prayer and come to my close friend Imani Hooper for another prayer."Â
Q: Why football?
ES: "I played baseball most of my life and I thought that's what I was going to go to college for. Then I tried football and it was just a different love for the game, being able to hit people and being able build character in myself. It just grew on me, so I kept on going."Â
Q: What three words best describe you?
ES: "Hard-worker. Passionate. Dedicated."Â
Â
Q: How would you like to be remembered from your playing days at NCCU?
ES: "First as a great teammate on and off the field. But most importantly, as the kid to come from not much, but worked hard every day since he stepped on the field and wanted to do his absolute best in whatever helped the team WIN a MEAC Championship."Â
Â
Q: If you could invite any living person to WG Pearson dining hall for lunch, who would it be and why?
ES: "Definitely have to be Will Ferrell. The guy is a genius at his work and probably the funniest person I have ever watched as entertainment."
