DURHAM, N.C. — The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team returns home and will take the court at McDougald-McLendon Arena early for an Education Day game against UNCW on Tuesday at 11 a.m.

NCCU (0-4) capped a two-game road swing with a difficult 106-39 loss at 13th-ranked University of Iowa on Saturday. The Eagles have seven players averaging between 5-8 points per game. Juniors
Paulina Afriyie leads the maroon and gray with 8.3 points per game. NCCU have yet to play a game with either of their postseason award-winning in
Rodneysha Martin (All-MEAC) and
Kieche White (MEAC All-Rookie). The Eagles, who were outrebounded for the first time this season, have looked good on the boards this season and are paced by Afriyie (8.5 rpg) and freshman
Kiyana Brown (8.3 rpg).
UNCW (3-1) remained undefeated at home with a 77-55 victory over Grand Canyon University on Saturday. The Seahawks, who lost their only road game at Ohio University, are shooting almost 45-percent from the floor on the season and are using 11.5 steals per game in forcing their opponents into 23 turnovers per contest. Junior forward Shrita Parker and junior guard GiGi Smith are UNCW's top scorers, averaging just over 16 points per game. Sophomore forward Paige Powell, who is chipping in eight points per game, tops the Seahawks with 8.5 rebounds per outing.
