AMES, Iowa — Junior guard
Dominique Adams led the North Carolina Central University women's basketball team with 12 points and six rebounds in a 99-58 loss at Iowa State University on Sunday afternoon in Hilton Coliseum.
The Cyclones shot 57.8-percent from the field and turned a season-worst 27 NCCU turnovers into and extra 38 points in rolling to the 41-point victory. Iowa State (4-5) snapped a four-game losing streak with its highest scoring output of the season. The Eagles (2-6) have lost their last three games and remain winless on the road.
Reigning First Team All-Big 12 honoree junior Bridget Carleton paced the Cyclones with 21 points, including five made 3-pointers, along with six assists and four steals. Junior forward Meredith Burkhall and freshman center Kristin Scott added 19 points apiece.
Adams added three assists and two steals to top the Eagles in most statistical categories.

Kieche White was a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point distance on the way to matching her season-high point total of 11. Junior
Rodneysha Martin tacked on nine points and three assists. Senior
Kierona Morton along with sophomores
Jada Blow and
Paulina Afriyie all tallied five points with Afriyie adding five rebounds.
The Eagles held early leads of 3-2 and 5-4 on a corresponding baseline jumper by junior
Caira Benton and a layup by junior
Deja McCain on an inside feeding pass by Martin.
The Cyclones answered with the next 16 points to pull away. Burkhall scored half of the Cyclones points during the surge.
Burkhall was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field in the first half and she scored 17 of her 19 points before the intermission, which was one-point shy of her career high total. Iowa State led 26-8 after the first quarter and 49-22 at halftime. The Cyclones were shooting at 56.3% accuracy midway through the contest while the Eagles were firing at 33.3%.
ISU heated up to 69.2% precision in the third quarter to extend the lead to 74-34. The two teams played a pretty level fourth quarter before the Cyclones settled for the 41-point triumph.
Scott and Burkhall yanked down seven and six boards, respectively, as Iowa State finished with a 34-28 edge on the glass.
